Located in Sintra, Belas 55 is a lakeside family home that houses an inviting interior behind the expressiveness of exposed concrete. The central concept was a house that works as both refuge and panorama.
The inner courtyards create absence within the building, in total communion with nature, while the balconies create interplay between openness and privacy that fosters flexible living between inside and outside. These elements were conceived as flow-organising foundations, simultaneously connecting and dividing the different areas. The most intimate programme is located on the top floor, while the social area is extends along the ground floor, where the house opens up to the natural surroundings and the exterior swimming pool.
