Aljezur
The pateo house
The openings on both facades fill the house with light and extend the view to the green plains to the east.
The unique characteristics of the land, nestled between two streets with a steep slope and two pre-existing houses, led to an intervention that is meant to be neutral and integrated with the street front, while opening up at the rear to create a private retreat in the heart of Aljezur's historic area. On the main facade, the traditional form was restored, creating a discreet presence within its surroundings, yet standing out with generous single-pane glass openings. At the rear, a patio with a small pool develops, where the water’s reflections animate the large wall, transporting us to a Mediterranean experience, where white lightens and unifies the space. Inside, the layout is divided into two parts, with the bedrooms on the entry and upper floors, while the social area is on the middle floor. On this floor, the kitchen and living room merge and extend into the patio through a large glass opening. The openings on both facades fill the house with light and extend the view to the green plains to the east.
