Connecting the past and present

The Bento da Rocha Cabral 12 residential building is located near the Largo do Rato square in one of Lisbon’s urban regeneration areas. Significant changes have modified its original form since initial construction and the asymmetrical distribution of elements is due to two additional floors being added to the original two-story building. Maintaining and recovering the existing volume, our architectural proposal sought to preserve the building’s original identity, introducing a more contemporary line connecting the past and present. Consisting of four family dwellings, the close relationship with the inner courtyard leads and distributes the natural lighting through the whole complex.
