Maria do Rosário Jacinto

The new year brings some changes to Fragmentos' corporate structure with the election of two new partners — Fernando Flora and Maria do Rosário Jacinto.

Maria do Rosário Jacinto joined Fragmentos in 2013, but her connection with the atelier began much earlier, through occasional projects and a growing friendship. In 2016, she assumed the role of project coordinator, and in 2018, she became an associate architect. In 2025, she was announced as one of the atelier's new partners.

Read Maria do Rosário Jacinto's testimonial, featured in the book 1994 – 2024, celebrating 30 years of Fragmentos:

I like to believe that my story with Fragmentos has something of a romance. I met them when I worked at Gonçalo Salazar de Sousa. I was 25 years old, full of ideas, and a proud urbanist, just arrived from Copenhagen. Fragmentos established a partnership with GSS and together we won the tender for Herdade Roncão D’El Rey. That was the first time I attended a presentation to a real client. I felt so grown-up! There was little work and I did not want to waste any opportunity. I worked at GSS, conducted idea competitions with my college friends, co-created a project about cities that almost turned me to a young entrepreneur and, incidentally, I start to do one-off works for Fragmentos. This is how I started knowing them, little by little, one project at a time. The time dedicated to Fragmentos’ projects started to increase but, in spite of my insistence to join the team, during a long time, the workload was not enough to justify hiring me. I wanted very much to become part of that team. There was (and is) a very special atmosphere at Fragmentos. There was a structure but hierarchy would fade away in the day-to-day, they(we) were all equal, and that, for a 27 year old girl, eager to learn and aspiring to do different, was fascinating! It was like a two-year affair, trying to convince them, one by one, that I was an asset and that together we would achieve incredible things.
