The ground floor, set further back, houses the social spaces and opens onto the exterior through large glass panels that extend them into the garden, the pool and an inner courtyard enclosed by an ochre-rendered wall. The upper floor cantilevers over the ground floor, clad in timber battens that filter light and views over the surrounding block, and contains the bedrooms, shielded by a continuous balcony. Inside, the white of the walls and ceilings contrasts with the grey tone of the continuous flooring and with the bespoke timber shelving that runs along the upper corridor to a double-height space above the living room, where a small library is set. A skylight cuts through the ceiling of the corridor leading to the bedrooms, bringing natural light into a space that would otherwise be blind; on the ground floor, a black iron wood-burning stove marks the centre of the living room, between the sofa and the garden.
