Vila Sarah
The starting point was the restoration of Vila Sarah, freeing it from adjoining structures and reinforcing its original character. Vila Helena is rebuilt, now offering greater comfort and with its relationship to the exterior strengthened, and a new building, Vila Emma, is added, completing this project in Monte Estoril.
On the lower level of the site, a series of courtyard villas is developed, partially set into the ground and topped with green roofs, which function as a landscaped base for the ensemble. This solution reduces visual impact while making the most of the site’s slope and allowing access from Nice and Trouville streets. An ongoing project, it will result in 16 dwellings with various layouts, all featuring private outdoor spaces. The shared areas are defined by the presence of greenery, promoting privacy, wellbeing, and a strong connection to the setting. As a direct consequence of the project’s underlying concept, this has been a multidisciplinary process, bringing together architecture, conservation and restoration, interior design, and engineering disciplines, always in line with energy efficiency criteria. This complexity is also reflected in the diversity of stakeholders involved — from foundations to detailing — with a constant focus on the quality of place.
